Come watch a glassblowing demonstration by Héloïse Colrat! Scientist Alicia Van Ham-Meert will be present to answer your questions and offer insights into the history and chemistry behind glassmaking.

METHODS explores the techniques, materials, and cultural context of medieval glassblowing. This project is a collaboration between scientist Alicia and glass artist Héloïse, where they experiment with various glass recipes based on the composition of stained glass windows from the abbey of Stavelot – the focus of Alicia’s research. Héloïse tests the properties of the glass, such as viscosity and elasticity, by blowing it with a torch.

Héloïse Colrat (1992, Lyon) is a French artist living and working in Brussels. She is also the scientific glassblower at the chemistry department of the University of Liège.

Alicia Van Ham-Meert is a postdoctoral researcher at KU Leuven, working on the characterization of raw materials and the reverse engineering of medieval stained glass recipes for the abbey of Stavelot at ULB.

If we could talk with fungi, which voice would they use? Where would we hang out?

The realm of fungi challenges our conventional notions of individuality, intelligence, collaboration, immunity, and sensoriality. While it is being extensively studied for its innovative applications and for its therapeutic properties, there remains a vast terrain awaiting exploration. Embracing once more the concept of ‘mushrooming’ as a methodology, we will immerse in the fungal imagery working in collaboration with microorganisms such as yeasts and molds, as well as the more familiar mushrooms.

Mobile Repair Café

The Mobile Repair Café is a traveling and collaborative object repair workshop. It is the mobile version of the Repair Cafés that moves around to bring the co-repair experience to life. It includes:

– A reception area to ask your questions, learn about Repair Cafés, discover our missions and actions, discuss new modes of consumption;

– A repair space equipped with all the necessary tools and a large workbench to perform repairs together, learn, discover, share;

– A “café” area to meet people, wait for a repair, connect with Repair Café volunteers, and exchange ideas with neighbors…

The Mobile Repair Café is a traveling tool to discover the values and operation of Repair Cafés, to participate and share knowledge about repair, to raise awareness about waste reduction and the circular economy, and to strive for a more sustainable world.

Depending on the skills of the volunteer repairers present on the day, you can come and repair small appliances, electronic devices, computer equipment, bicycles, clothes, and/or sharpen your kitchen knives and scissors!

People will be served in the order of arrival.

In August 2015, Hussein Rassim arrives in Brussels after traveling thousands of kilometers from Iraq. A year later, after obtaining his residence permit, he decides to travel to Greece. This musical road movie takes you through Hussein’s migratory journey and that of thousands of other migrants. Through his encounters and the countries he traverses, his story takes shape and gives a voice to the forgotten.

“The Way Back” is more than just a documentary. Hussein’s captivating journey helps us better understand the plight of migrants and the challenges they face. This engaging cinematic experience raises awareness of the complex reality of migration, sheds light on the individual stories behind the statistics, and questions European immigration policy. With its dual approach, “The Way Back” humanizes the phenomenon of migration while encouraging critical reflection on contemporary sociopolitical issues.

During this cine-concert, the screening of The Way Back is accompanied by live music performed by the band Jaqâmaz, which includes the film’s protagonists, Hussein and Juliette.

This unique programme will begin with a short documentary exploring the challenges and solutions of urban soil management. After the film, take part in an enriching exchange with members of Super Terram, CiDéSol and Bruxelles Environnement.

This exchange will be an ideal opportunity to gain a better understanding of local environmental issues and discover what is being done to preserve the health of our soils.
